Live Graphics
Virtual Production
Play Sports decided to replace their studio with a brand new ‘House Of Sports’.
The aim was to create a state of the art broadcast studio, built with future proof technology and enhanced with a virtual set extension.
Throughout the entire process, we have been their partner in crime and have helped them to achieve this goal.
This is a story of what BOOST Graphics can add to live studio broadcasting.
Time was not on our side.
There was only one short month
between the breakdown of the
old studio and the first live broadcast.
By creating a digital twin from
the blueprints of the set designer,
we could test everything 3 months
before the build of the actual studio.
This gave us a big advantage.
There are a lot of statistics involved in a live sports broadcast.
We wanted to visualise them in a unique way.
We ended up combining on-screen graphics, ledwall visuals,
augmented and extended graphics in the same studio frames.
By doing this, we give the director tons of options
to tell the story in an immersive way.
On either side of the space is an alcove with an additional LED video wall set back from the stairs.
These areas can also be shot using a “walk and wander” floating “video on video” shots with AR layers added in, including the ability to insert stat boards that appear to be sitting on the stairs and player image on another level.
The 4th wall is a digital extention of the studio. By using unreal engine we created a photorealistic environment that hooked perfectly on the real set.The 4th wall is a digital extention of the studio.
